About the Chair of Philosophy of Mind (Prof. Dr. Ophelia Deroy)

The Chair of Philosophy of Mind integrates philosophical inquiry with cognitive neuroscience and was founded through the German Excellence Initiative as part of the vision of the Munich Center for Neuroscience and its Graduate School. We explore long-standing philosophical questions — such as the relationship between perception and cognition, mindreading, and collective truth-seeking — while advancing research in experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and computational social sciences.

Our work connects to broader fields, including metaphysics of mind, philosophy of science, ethics, and moral philosophy, also represented in the Faculty. Our lab and events support cross-methodological research on human interactions, AI, and data-driven technologies, neurotechnologies in particular.
